Six Inmates Injured After Texas Prison Transport Van Crashes

Six inmates and two Texas law enforcement deputies were injured in an accident after their prison transport van was in was involved in a collision and burst into flames.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the accident happened at the cross-section of Jackson Street and Commerce Street in downtown Houston when a pickup truck ran a red light just before noon on Monday.

The inmates and officers escaped the vehicle before it caught fire.

The officers and inmates suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

No information was available as to the driver of the truck.
