What is Gate Money?
The State of Texas Correctional Institutions Division provides $50 and a bus ticket to offenders released on parole or mandatory supervision to help with transportation to the community to which they will be paroled and with other expenses involved in resettling in the community. They will also receive an additional $50 upon reporting to their parole office. Offenders who are not required to report to a parole officer immediately after release or who are released to a detainer or to an out-of-state plan receive the full $100 at time of release.
